Throws the Final Stone

Mytheon was never my "main game," but I did have a good time playing it while it was alive. It had a lot of aspirations, but unfortunately it was mired in problems and a lawsuit that just brought this game to its knees and ended it all too soon.

Here's the official announcement from the forums:

Sad. I remember taking an extended lunch from work so I could talk with UTV True Games PR and community relations one sunny afternoon. We talked about how I could help grow the game and build interest as a supporter. Those first couple of months before the lawsuit hit and the game was in beta were awesome. The interview I was able to get with Angela Gillespie was a highlight. Best of luck to all the people I met through this game, and I'm also wishing you better luck on your next endeavors. Hopefully it was a learning experience for all involved.

Thanks for the fun!

An Eidolon's Adventures in Greece (Guest Post)

Hello Stonecasters! I have a special surprise for you today, I have a guest post from Desjardins (aka John Lifeglen from Through the Eyes of a Sorcerer)! Hope you all enjoy reading this as much as I did. :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey there, Mytheon fans; Desjardins the level 11 Eidolon here today to talk some about my adventures thus far through the god-plagued lands of Ancient Greece. I generally run around with my amazing companion Chelyria, who is a level 11 Elementalist. We both started playing after finding boredom within some other games, and The Friendly Warcaster always had good things to say about it…so why not?
Enough about me, though. You all are here to read of death-defying adventures and the general bashing of mythical creatures. You’ve got it! After facing many failed attempts at that “Evil snakey-lady” as Medusa came to be known we asked for some advice from Friendly and succeeded on first attempt the next time through. We were both still sitting on level 9. Not quite high enough yet to go play safely in the War Forge, so we ran the Temple of Athena one more time. Ding 10 and off to kill Hephaestus.
The War Forge is full of fire critters and ranged attacks, so bringing in the Obelisk of Shu to prevent the incoming range is a nice touch. Shrine of Thanatos and Deathly Lure are both great stones, too, as they cause damage over time to all enemies in the area. Oh to be an Eidolon and get to play with this stuff without crossing class. Muahahahaha. And let’s not forget that Water beats Fire, so bringing in an Elementalist with a nice set of stones is a great advantage, too! There’s an entire family of Icy stones for all situations. And of course the Avatar of Gaia Merge Combo is AMAZING! Here’s a shot of the Lure at work in the Forge.
This amazing shot in Echidna’s Swamp (the stone playground as we’ve taken to calling it) has the Avatar of Gaia standing behind me.
Look at her, she’s huge! Also pictured above is a nifty little Warcaster stone I picked up. The Gorgon Archer. I think that’s a close enough likeness to Medusa (albeit smaller) for me to save the time of running back through the Temple of Athena again. Oh, and that’s me in the middle. Yep. The one with a rainbow of glowy going on. Water ranged wand, +5 defense to all and +1 defense point AND +5 defense aura around me for allies, and the super cool mana-infused armguards glowing in blue. Green, blue, and white. Looking niiiiccccceeeee.
Chelyria’s merge, the Ritual of Elemental Fury, seems to be bugged. We went running in the Swamp again to test it out and when all 4 pieces were showing, no special stone appeared. We checked the forums last night and people were complaining about it. No responses have been made on threads that are months old. Let’s hope whatever is going on with the Mytheon management gets resolved soon so all of the little bugs can be squashed. I would have loved to put up pictures of her unleashing the fury of the elements on people.
A huge thanks to the Friendly Warcaster for allowing me to guest post! It’s an honor.
Keep it real, and if you ever find Plato, Aristotle, or Socrates let me know. I need to talk to a couple of them about creating algebra and throwing us into the Dark Ages.
Couple of Boss Fight Videos . . . in Italian?
I was surfing X-fire for Mytheon and found a couple cool boss fights. I'm not exactly sure what language this is (Italian?), but I do believe I might hear a swear word or two LOL. If you know what language this is, let me know, and I'll edit this post.
"watchu mana! watchu mana!"
;-)
Hopefully I can get an X-fire video or two of my own up someday soon.
Happy Dueling!
Ding 10 wow! What a difference lag makes!
Played a little bit of Mytheon last night . . . enough to push me up to 10th level!
That means I get to equip my plumber's wrench of doom!
LOL just look at that thing. I'm gonna enjoy every minute of wielding this monster!
The noticeable difference during my play time yesterday (besides my new sexy plumber gear) was the amazing lack of lag last night. Whatever maintenance they did on Tuesday really made a difference in game (or whatever the cause of the lag clearing up was--I really have no idea). Gameplay was smooth! I could actually break open all the barrels and crates normally instead of having to trick the game out by getting a running start at a barrel to break it. My allies would actually attack things without having to be told a hundred times.
My enjoyment last night was 10 times what it was over the weekend!
Thanks UTV True Games for clearing up the lag!
Happy Dueling!
Ding 9, and having some fun!
Mytheon be the awesome yesterday!
Mytheon + Thor + Jambalaya for dinner must = awesome dreams all night about mythology. I just had the most amazing dreams last night. :)
Anyway, I was TOTALLY feeling Mytheon last night. I even put on my elite Mytheon T-shirt that I got from UTV True Games back in beta.
Dinged level 9 in the War Forge. (Why when I say that I dinged 9th level does that seem really low level? oh yeah, maybe because it is. /shrug.)
And I caught a random invite to a random guild. LOL. yay. (I should probably make a guild of my own.)
Anyway, I have a totally new purpose in my life in this game. I want to get the stones to do a merge combo. Check out this thread on the Mytheon boards. I really want to summon that Avatar of Nemesis! Looks like I need to find a way to get the Champion of Nemesis, Shrine of Nemesis, and Wrath of Nemesis stone. Wootah!
I wonder what other merges there are, because that rocks.
Happy Dueling!
Ding 8 and Revisiting Medusa
I got some more play time on Mytheon the past couple of days, and it's been a little strange, but good overall. There seems to be something about the server that's making the game seem a little laggy, but it wasn't anything I couldn't overcome with a little patience.
The main problem with Mytheon continues to be one thing . . .
Low population . . . and that's on only one server. No worries! Stingite is here to play the game until they turn the server off . . . or I can't take it anymore. Probably the latter will happen before the former. :)
Of important note for me as a Warcaster is that I found my new favorite out of class stone! I absolutely adore this stone: Relocation.
You can cast it to give you a head start running away when you get overwhelmed or use it to charge up your mana when you're low. LOVE this stone at the moment. It's really made the difference in some battles.
Next up is that I turned level eight! WOOTAH! I've been grinding the pathway to Medusa a whole heck of a lot to get there too.
One thing I immediately noticed had changed as opposed to my days playing through the beta, was this little pinch point in the pathway to Medusa. Let's count these bad guys up.
Yup, and they all add at once. It took me a couple deaths and a Hermes Slash to make my way through that wall. I'll have to figure out a different strategy soon since those Hermes Slashes cost real money to use (although you do get two free ones to start out with and I'm pretty sure UTV True Games would LOVE my purchase *DON'T DIE LITTLE GAME!*).
The end result of a Hermes Slash of course is game money and blue dots.
:)
Keep throwing the stones my friends!
Happy Dueling!
Why, Hello old friend!
Heh. I haven't played Mytheon for a long time since all its Beta woes, but the game has gone gold release now and . . . it's looking pretty barren there. I swear I was one of three guys playing the game this afternoon. It was quite a different scene than the first Beta when Mytheon was overflowing with players. Meh. Maybe it was just the time of day.
If you gave Mytheon a spin back in Beta, perhaps it's time to remember what a great game Mytheon is! If you've never tried it before . . . why not? It's free!
Anyway, I had a blast working through the newbie zone. :)
RAWR! Behold my killing spree of yon newbieness!
It was interesting to reacquaint myself with how to click around and move about, and it was pretty much like riding a bike. I may even have to go pay my old friend Medusa a visit after a couple more runs to Echidna. :)
Stingite the level 5 and growing Warcaster . . . signing out!
Happy Dueling!
